General objective of the IFAECI Days
The general objective of our annual event is to strengthen our internal and external (both regional and international) collaborations and foster new ones within actions and topics that form the new scientific agenda of IFAECI as well as the priorities of our sponsoring institutions (CNRS, CONICET, IRD, UBA). It is important to emphasize that IFAECI objectives are foreseen to go beyond the specific agenda of each laboratory that forms part of it. The mid- to long-term objective is that IFAECI study groups/transversal teams (aka between several IFAECI lab components and possibly beyond) emerge from these activities on a given topic, with the support of small leverage funds from the direction for the continuation of these teams and take full advantage of the possibilities and added values of such a structure like IFAECI.
General objective of Roundtables and Focus Groups
On a specific level, the main objective of the roundtables and focus groups is to encourage IFAECI members to discuss common interest topics, methodologies, or networks and propose concrete actions in this direction. In the short term (2024), roundtables and focus groups aim at identifying groups of interest, identify priorities and attainable objectives (e.g. defining leads and lags in a given topic in terms of expertise, means, staff, equipment). In the long-term (2025-2028), this first meeting could open to concrete project proposals (medium or large), from shared teaching, common papers and analyses, co-organization of future meetings or invitation of colleagues, to common grant application. These activities, proposals should be once again seen as fostering IFAECI transversal teams beyond what each of us is doing on an individual level, in order to contribute to the development of the integrative IFAECI agenda and strengthen its position as a leading regional actor in climate sciences in South America.
